Whenever we have a long weekend, I never quite know how things are going to go at work. Since I work at a hospital, activity goes on 24/7, so even if there is a holiday, the amount of supplies we need doesn't change. So with Monday off, I really wondered if five days of work would be crammed into four, and how that would go.
So far, not so bad. Tuesday and Wednesday were quite ordinary. Indeed, the only difference was that Tuesday became Monday in terms of scheduling and deliveries, but Wednesday's activities were no harder and no fuller than any other Wednesday's. So my hope for today is that it will be a slow day.
By slow, I mean a day in which I have time to stop and smell the roses. I'd like to have a chance to visit the Farmer's market today--we have those every Thursday in the summer months. And we're also having a flower show in the garden. On a typical day, I don't feel comfortable being away from my post for more than a few minutes.
I hope today is different.
I've been getting to know one of my Internet friends much better this past week. This is so much fun for me! The only reason I write is because people fascinate me--I wonder how they came to be the people they are, what path they took, where they stumbled along the way, and how they picked themselves back up.
Every person's life is a drama, but people are not books, and if you're becoming friends with someone, then you have also become part of that drama, and you both are writing the rest of the story.
And you never know when you're going to come to a cliffhanger. How exciting is that!?
Update: It did turn out to be slow. In fact, it turned out to be too slow!
