I bought a new laptop on Sunday, a Dell Studio model. I got the one with a 15" screen--the 17" was too big to lug around with me. I'm replacing my Sony Vaio desktop with it. I'm keeping the Vaio, of course. It isn't dead yet, and I need it to run my oscilloscope and signal generator. I could have gotten along a bit longer without a new computer, but my Vaio could go at any time, and I knew I'd need one by the time summer was out, so why not just buy it prior to heading to Iowa with Dorothy?
About that--they could not find the Pheo here in Grand Rapids, but everything still points to it being that. So it has been arranged that she will have her testing essentially repeated at the University of Iowa, where they have handled hundreds of Pheo cases. If they don't find it, then we'll have a different diagnosis. Dorothy had to get off her meds and switch to something else. This went OK at first, then she had one very bad week, where I think she was taking both too much of the other medicine and she was dehydrated. These past couple of weeks she has felt much better most of the time.
Because of that bad week, we decided that she wouldn't fly to Iowa with her sister, but instead I would drive us there. It's only a 6 hour drive--it will probably take less time than flying would, given that there would have been two layovers.
Today work went pretty well--same as yesterday. I took my PC there so I could load extras during the day, like itunes, while I do other stuff. I packed up some more boxes for Mindy--her bookstore project is going quite well and I can supply all the packing material and boxes she needs for just the cost of shipping it to her. I might just take payment in books--so far the three I bought from her are very good. One of them will be the subject of my next Alt View column.
We'll see what tomorrow brings.
