Fair Is Fair

Since I criticized someone else's poem this morning I figured that in fairness I should at least provide a target of my own. So I whipped this one up:

WINTER POEM

Awaking on a winter day
I tried to think of words to say
To tell her how I really felt
To cause her frozen heart to melt

Fresh snow had fallen through the eve
Lit by the sun, made me believe
That when the words had come to me
Soon I'd make a warm heart to be

But as the sun climbed in the sky
No words, but tears came to my eye
Her heart I would not melt today
I watched the snow just flow away
