Today was day one of the garage sale. It went pretty well. Last night the girls got signs ready (the whole family has been working overtime to get ready for this thing--I've actually done the least) and this morning before I went to work I took Haley and Ashley around to put the signs in place.
At work I was alone most of the day since girl friday Angie had the day off. I did get some help from Paul Ripley, and it was quite a slow day anyway. I called home several times to see how the sale was going, but got no answer. That was a good sign--Dorothy said cars were coming all day long (but we still have plenty of stuff left for tomorrow).
When I got home at 4:30 I was surprised to see the sale was still going on. Several women were still looking at things and there were a few kids running around, too. Dorothy gave the kids some freebies, and it looked like the day ran pretty smoothly. I was impressed (though not surprised--Dorothy is very good at organization). Someone expressed interest in the old swing set, which we're giving away for free. It's in good shape except that the actual swings wore out. The slide and the two gliders are fine, though. I just hope he takes it--I'd like it to go to someone who can use it, and I'd like to get out of the task of taking it apart myself.
I'm ready for a long weekend, and then the kids will be back in school and we'll go back to that routine again. Dorothy will be able to sleep during the day easier then since the kids will be gone.
Oh, I should mention that the Concerta I'm taking for ADHD is working quite well for me. I don't notice the side effects anymore, and even the crash at night isn't too bad--mostly I just notice that my ambition level drops through the floor.
