Tuesday & 99.9

Labor Day worked out pretty well, except that poor Dorothy had headaches--she felt well during the garage sale, then when it's over and she can have more time to herself, she has a migraine. We used to be able to just zap them with a shot of Imitrex, but those days are gone. She wound up sleeping a good bit of the day, but we all had a nice salmon dinner at night.

I didn't feel all that great myself, actually. Part of it was lifting a few too many heavy boxes after the sale--that aggravated my costochondritis. Also had some allergy stuff going on, but by evening I felt better.

It was getting late in the afternoon and I was afraid the guy wasn't going to come and get the swing set like we expected, but then he showed up with his wife and two kids (one a baby, the other 4 or almost that) and we had the thing packed up on his trailer in no time. I let his wife and little girl poke through the leftovers of the garage sale that were still setting out in the garage. They took a few more things along with them. It was so nice to see that cute little girl leave with some treasures!

Yesterday I received notification that I qualified for the Triple Nine Society. Here are the membership requirements:

The members of our Society come from a broad spectrum of society and varied educational backgrounds, representing more than twenty countries. The only common thread is that they have tested at or above the 99.9th percentile on at least one of several standardized adult intelligence tests.

In my case, I sent them a scan of my GRE scores from 1989. My score was 1550 out of 1600, and you only needed 1460 to qualify. It's interesting that my standardized test scores when I was younger would not have qualified. Those were really ADHD affected I know now, because I did take an IQ test when I was 19 or 20, and I tested at 151-158 which was as high as the test went. But that test was the Cattell Culture Fair, and it was fairly short in length and in the amount of time we had to spend on it, so the ADHD was sort of circumvented, I think. But that test was taken in a classroom and a piece of scrap paper, so I have no record of it. It was administered by my professor of educational tests and measurements though, and he was top notch--one of the bet profs I ever had. So I think the results were accurate. I even recall specifics from taking that test--I blazed through that sucker! I was done early with each section.

I took the GRE much later, and don't recall it as well, but I do know I had time to finish the math sections and check them completely through twice before time expired.

Quick note--just talked to my doctor and the x-rays reveal a ureterocele that may be causing the slight amount of blood in my urine. So next step it to talk to a urologist. I looked it up and I have no other symptoms, so maybe he'll just say to let it go until I actually have a problem with it.
