Since this blog is the closest thing I keep to a diary anymore, I thought I'd start describing how I'm reacting to my Concerta medication through the day for awhile.
I got up at 6 a.m. and felt quite alert still, even though I went to bed at 12:30 a.m. or so, and didn't fall off immediately. I took my Concerta tablet at 6:15 along with a bowl of cereal. I'd had one cup of coffee. Around 7 a.m., as I was driving to work, I felt it start to kick in. It wasn't a good or a bad feeling, just a bit strange. I still feel strange, but it's sort of like a heightened body-consciousness.
It is now 7:45, I feel very alert, focused on this blog but still tending to make typos--I seem to catch them faster though. I brought a cup of coffee along with me, but I haven't touched it yet. Not at all hungry.
One other thing, last night I did finish fixing my glider chair, even though it was late. And more than that, I put away the tools. So my tendency to just let the "unnecessary" go until some undefined later has improved.
9:00 a.m. Still feel a bit jittery, though not too bad, and my hands don't actually shake. Got my work done quickly and easily without feeling rushed. So far I've had about half of my travel mug of coffee (yes, I drink it cold and black). I'm making myself eat my yogurt now since one thing I noticed over the weekend was a kind of faint feeling that comes when I've gone too long without protein, and that can happen when you don't feel like eating.
10:00 a.m. Feel about the same--very alert, not hungry, though I did eat that yogurt. I do feel just a bit funny in my joints, particularly my elbows. Forgot to mention before that I've had no additional earaches since the first day. On the unfortunate side, my Girl Friday Angie came in for 15 minutes but was too sick to work, so she went back home.
11:30 a.m. Still feel a bit funny in the joints, though not as bad. Haven't had any sleepy spells, and I used to get those all the time. Very alert, and feel pretty good. Vyvanse was much gentler right from the start, and this may settle down more--but I can live with Concerta if it stays like this.
12:30 p.m. Feel a bit less wired--pretty good actually, though I am restless because I'm short-handed and some deliveries are off schedule. Had they come in on schedule, I'd be sitting pretty right now.
2:00 p.m. Feel good. No real odd feelings per se, plenty of focus, and plenty of energy.
