Today I am 50.
Rather than dread it, I embrace it.
I am going to enjoy every minute of this day and the days that follow.
I hope you will, too.
UPDATE:
What a nice birthday surprise! Back two years ago when the hospital I'm was moving to a new building, a driver showed up at my dock, great big guy, with terrible shortness of breath, saying he thought he was having a heart attack. I'll go into the details of the entire account at another time--now that I know what happened it's a funnier story--but suffice to say we had ER nurses race down with a wheelchair and get him admitted stat. But I never knew what happened to him until a few minutes ago. He survived, he still drives his truck, and I just finished having a conversation with him! Turns out it wasn't an actual heart attack, but it was something just as bad, and it was a close thing. He was among the first patients here at the new building. He just made a delivery here this morning and I asked him straight out if he was that guy.
I helped save his life day that along with my boss and the others on the staff who reacted so quickly. But what a gift to find that out on my birthday. Thank you, God!
