What a Stinky Day

The title is not a reflection on my mood or how the day went. It is meant to be taken literally. Today was the day that the grease traps from food services had to be emptied out. To do this, a tanker truck very much like a septic tank pumper backs up to the drain ports, which happen to be right here at the dock. Even after the port is connected to the hose, it stinks very much like a sewage treatment plant, the odor permeates the entire campus inside and out, at least on the lower floors, and my station is right at ground zero.

It's pretty funny though to see my coworkers walking around with masks on their faces while I just go about my business. The odor stinks just as much to me as it does to anyone else, but fortunately it doesn't nauseate me, and after awhile my olfactory nerves are so saturated with the smell that they cease to smell much of anything.

Not much else going on here today, nor do I expect much to happen tonight, which is fine by me. I'll be perfectly content to work on my Farmville project, and maybe read a little bit.
