Other than me, the family has been dealing with the flu the past few days. Haley and Joshua both missed some school, and Ashley likely will tomorrow because she came down with it on Saturday. Dorothy has it also, although she was well enough to make a short trip to the store today.
So far, "I only have escaped to tell thee." But I think it is inevitable that I'll catch it, even though I have had both a regular shot and an H1N1 shot. But we shall see.
This has not been a productive weekend at all, unless you count Farmville. :-) The weather has been cold and wet, and that makes mowing up leaves a pointless thing to do. The rest of the week looks wet, too, which means I may not catch up with it at all. Oh well--it won't be the first time snow covered the leaves for the entire winter.
I want to write and essay on innumeracy and drugs this week. Lawmakers and others have a real problem understanding how numbers can be applied to the issue of legalization or not. Smoking is bad for you, but it doesn't get you high. Drinking too much gets you drunk, but drinking too much to get drunk isn't what drinking is always about. Apart from the medicinal uses, smoking pot is for getting yourself high. And as I heard this week, no body talks about how smoking dope made them a better person, or helped them in school, etc. But beyond that, when they talk of legalizing drugs, what drugs do they mean? There is a huge difference between pot, which need not be addicting, and crack or meth, which can addict you with one hit.
It's these last matters I hope to address later.
